What We Do
Building Brighter Futures Through Education and Care
Many children struggle with their studies simply because they do not have anyone at home to guide them. To support these children, Navadoy Seva Niketan runs free coaching centres in the Howrah area.
Around 75 students currently receive regular support from our volunteer teachers. They help children with their studies, encourage them to stay in school, and give them the confidence to do better.
Our goal is simple — to make sure that no child gives up on education because of a lack of support.
For children aged 3–6, the early years are an important time to learn, explore and build confidence. But for many children from underprivileged families, these opportunities are often limited.
Navadoy Seva Niketan runs two pre-primary centres where children learn through stories, rhymes, music, games and creative activities. Our teachers give individual attention to help children develop communication skills, confidence and a love for learning.
Over the past three years, around 250 children have benefited from these centres, with 99% continuing into formal schooling.
We believe every child deserves a happy beginning to their learning journey.
Children of migrant brick-field workers often miss out on education because their families move from place to place and many children do not speak Bengali. Instead of asking these children to come to school, we decided to bring education closer to them.
Started in 2011 with support from Loreto Day School, Sealdah, the Brick Field Schools Project now runs 5 schools in Howrah, supporting 300+ children with 8 teachers.
Our aim is simple — to make sure that a child’s background or family situation never becomes a barrier to education.
Some children spend their childhood working instead of going to school. Our Child Labour Education Centre provides them with a safe and welcoming space where they can learn, play and simply be children.
Around 20 children receive support through evening classes covering basic literacy, awareness, recreation and life skills. Nutritious snacks and personal attention are also provided.
We may not be able to change everything overnight, but we can help these children discover that their future can be different from their past.
